The first knowledge about the forests on the territory of Macedonia can be found in the famous Turkish travel writer and historian Evliya Çelebi. In his travelogues, passing through Ovchepolie, he wrote that when he was passing by the caravan near Kilisali, he needed to hire people from the local population who were pruning the forests so that the caravan could pass smoothly.
At that time Ovche Pole, but also the whole of Macedonia were rich in forests that unfortunately do not exist today.
